Note to Readers: I'm an avid reader and movie fan, and I generally review the books that leave a lasting impression on me, either because they exceeded my expectation or left me feeling I didn't get my money's worth. Many of my book opinions are posted on Amazon, and they're just that -- my opinions. I've provided links to Amazon with each review so you can read other reviews for more than one point of view. As you read my reviews, look for the "Note from Roger." There are books powerful enough I find myself reading them twice, and certain passages more than that, trying to figure out how the author managed to accomplish such an engrossing read. Consider the "Note from Roger" my second impression and a hardy endorsement. If you find my reviews useful and go to Amazon, I'd very much appreciate it if you'd click "Yes" on the link that says "Was this review helpful?" Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy reading my reviews, and I hope you'll enjoy the books I ranked 5-Stars as much as I did. Reviews are alphabetical by author's last name. The link is to Amazon.com. |
First, I'm taking a temporary break from fiction; however, I'm still open to non-fiction recently released or soon to be released books. If you would like me to consider your book for review, send a short description and the first chapter in the body of an email. If I think I might enjoy reading it, I'll reply with mailing information. Do not send the book until you've received confirmation that I'm interested in your book. Second, I do not discriminate against small press books. In fact, I find the best of new voices in contemporary fiction coming from small presses. But, be aware, I don't mince words in my reviews. If I like your book, I'll rave; if it's so-so, I'll say so; and if it's without redeeming literary merit... well... don't say you weren't warned. |
